The purpose of the award is to identify and acknowledge those drinking water testing laboratories that have demonstrated an exemplary dedication to providing services consistent with the accomplishments of the above-named analyst that pioneered methods for the protection of waterborne contamination and the assurance of proper public health in his community and beyond.

The number of awards in any year is not limited. Only the names of the laboratories that meet the award criteria listed below and are deemed deserving by the NEWWA Laboratory Operations Committee will be allowed consideration for the award. Selection will be made at the discretion of the committee based of the award criteria.
